GUN CONTROL
"When government takes away citizens' right to bear arms, it becomes the citizens' duty to take away the government's right to govern"- George Washington
In light of the recent outbreak of shootings, especially the horrible tragedy in Uvalde, Texas I wanted to address the issue of gun control. While I know emotions are high right now regarding this, and I do share that sentiment, I'm going to ask you to put emotions aside the best you can and consider a few things. First I will state even more clearly, ,, the recent shootings in Uvalde Texas was more than tragic. It was despicable. Personally I am against gun control. I believe that is a dangerous path to go down, infringing on our 2nd amendment. That said I see no reasons for anyone under 21 to purchase a hand gun or an AR-15. Actually the only reason I see for owning an AR-15 is if you are an adult avid responsible gun collector. I mean seriously unless the movie The Purge were to suddenly become reality who needs something that powerful? You can't hunt with it. It would destroy the meat. And it's far more than what would be needed to protect your home and family if you know how to handle a gun. I you don't know how to handle a gun then you shouldn't have one...ESPECIALLY an AR-15.
The thing is, not one gun killed any of these people. Had a person not picked them up, pointed at someone and pulled the trigger all of them would still be here. Take guns away and they will get them illegally. Then ONLY the people with ill intent will have guns or we'll start seeing school suicide bombers instead.
This is NOT a gun problem. It is a societal problem. While I believe that most people are predominantly good, I do see one big problem. Nobody is making our kids a priority. I may go into detail on that later. Now is not the time to step on the toes possibly of those who are grieving and it might be taken personally. Another shooting in a medical building was of a different sort. The man was in severe pain following a surgery but his doctor denied him adequate pain medication. This one hits home for me. I have severe systemic Lupus, severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I'm in unimaginable pain daily. Until they started favoring saving addicts over patients I could get the pain relief and have a somewhat normal life. I still had to deal with the many various other symptoms but it's amazing how much just battling severe pain takes! It not only affects me but my entire family and all social circles. So this is a double whammy. Both are punishing those who are responsible for those who are not. It's like our society has turned topsy turvy...but that's yet another story.
